BAREILLY: A newborn baby was found buried alive near the Bahgul river bridge in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur. A shepherd while grazing his goats, heard faint cries of the baby and rescued the infant. She was found covered with ants.
Dubloo, the shepherd, who was grazing his goats, searched the area on hearing the cries of the baby. The first thing he saw was a hand sticking out of the soil. The rest of the body was buried under the soil. When she was pulled out of the soil, the baby was covered in ants and covered in blood.
The police, who reached the spot on being informed, took the baby to a nearby health centre and then to the medical college for treatment. The baby is believed to be 10-15 days old, said Dr Rajesh Kumar, principal of the medical college. The baby, who is in the intensive care unit, is in a critical condition.
The baby was buried one foot deep. However, the police said that it was left open to breathe. Police said that they have started efforts to find the accused by examining the CCTV footage from the area.
