CHENNAI: Tamil director Vikram Sugumaran died in Chennai following a cardiac arrest on Monday. He was 47. He died while he was returning from Madurai after narrating a new script to a producer. Vikram's unexpected demise has left the Tamil film industry in pain.
Vikram suffered the chest pain when he was returning by bus from Madurai. He was rushed to a hospital nearby, but his life could not be saved.
Vikram Sugumaran is a native of Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram of Tamil Nadu. He moved to Chennai after driven by a passion for acting and filmmaking. He started his film journey as an assistant to legendary director Balu Mahendra. Vikram started his career by making short films in the early 2000s. He made his film debut with the film 'Madha Yaanai Koottam'. His last directorial film was 'Raavana Kottam' (2023). He was presently shooting for his new film ‘Therum Porum'.
Vikram's recent interview with a media garnered a lot of attention. He revealed that he faced betrayal from some in the industry. However, he said that he was not mentioning anyone's name as he did not have any evidence to support his claims.
