NEW DELHI: The INDIA bloc fielded Justice Sudershan Reddy as the candidate for the Vice Presidential election. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, at a press conference held this morning, announced that a consensus was reached within the alliance to select Sudershan Reddy for the VP post.
Sudershan Reddy is a former Supreme Court judge and a native of Hyderabad. The election for the Vice Presidential post was necessitated after the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankar.
Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, a native of Tamil Nadu, is being fielded by the NDA for the Vice Presidential election. Radhakrishnan's name was announced by BJP national president J.P. Nadda after the BJP parliamentary meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday. It is believed that the BJP has fielded C.P. Radhakrishnan to assert its influence in Tamil Nadu.
