NEW DELHI: India is ready for a strong response to provide justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's separate meetings with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Chief Marshal A P Singh and Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi concluded yesterday. Meanwhile, the shutters of the Baglihar dam were lowered to stop the flow of water in the Chenab river to Pakistan.
Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh visited the Prime Minister's official residence yesterday and explained the preparations. On Saturday, Navy Chief Admiral DK Tripathi and on April 30, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had informed the Prime Minister that the forces are ready. Leave of employees in arms manufacturing companies, including in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, has been cancelled.
For the tenth consecutive day, there was a provocation by Pakistan along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian army retaliated strongly. The fiercest encounter since the Pahalgam terror attack took place on Saturday midnight and Sunday morning. Heavy shelling was reported in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sundarbani and Akhnoor sectors.
