Girl of class 10 delivers baby during board exam

BHOPAL: A girl of class 10 delivered a baby boy in the washroom of an examination center while writing her board exams. The incident happened in Dhar of Madhya Pradesh. The girl told police that a youth known to her had been sexually abusing her for several months. The girl revealed the information of the abuse during a medical examination and interrogation conducted in the presence of her parents the other day.

The girl met the youth during Garba celebrations in 2024. The girl used her father’s phone to talk to the youth. In May last year, the accused proposed to the girl. When she refused the proposal, the youth brought her to his rented room forcibly and sexually abused her.

The youth threatened her with serious consequences if she revealed the incident. He later brought her to his room several times and abused her. The girl said that she hid the information about her pregnancy out of fear. While writing the exam on Tuesday, the girl felt severe stomach pain.

The girl went to the washroom and did not return after a long time. A search conducted found that she had given birth to a baby boy. The girl and the baby were immediately admitted to the hospital. The police registered a case and started an investigation based on her complaint. The police said that efforts have been intensified to arrest the accused.
