How many crore needed for a bullet train running at 250 kmph, figures out 

AHMEDABAD: Vande Bharat Bullet Train Project is the biggest transport project that the country is waiting for. The bullet train project, which runs at a speed of 250 kmph with 12 stops over 508 km, is initially expected to cost Rs 1.08 lakh crore. The project amount later increased to 1.64 lakh crore. New calculations said the cost will be 2 lakh crores. A bullet train with 10 coaches would cost between Rs 389 to Rs 398 crore in the initial estimate, but now it has gone up to Rs 460 crore.

The cost of the train built on the Vande Bharat platform has now increased more than what was estimated in 2018. With this, the Congress has also alleged that Vande Bharat Bullet Trains will become a big liability for India. The bullet train service will run on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor. The Modi government is trying to run the country's first bullet train by August 2026.

The first service will be from Surat in Gujarat to Bilimora. As part of the construction of the project, work on a 21 km long tunnel was completed recently. The construction of the 21 km bullet train tunnel between Bandra Kurla Complex and Shilphata has been completed at a fast pace.

Work on a large tunnel to form two tracks is nearing completion. Tunnel boring machines (TBMs) with 13.6 m diameter cutter heads were used to build this tunnel. The work started in April 2020. It is expected that the works will be completed in 2028 and the service will be started. With the launch of the bullet train service, it will take just three hours to reach Ahmedabad from Mumbai.
