NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party convener and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that he humbly accepts the verdict of the people in the Delhi elections. He congratulated the BJP and said he hopes that they would fulfil all the promises made to the people.
Kejriwal's response came through a video message after the election verdict was announced. "We accept the mandate of the people with great humility. I congratulate the BJP on this victory and hope they will fulfil all the promises for which people have voted for them," he stated.
'We have done great work in the area of health, education, and infrastructure in the last ten years. We will not only play the role of a constructive opposition but also continue to be among the people and serve them,' Arvind Kejriwal said in the video.
The Aam Aadmi Party faced a heavy setback in the elections. Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia suffered a miserable defeat. The victory of current Chief Minister Atishi Marlena from the Kalkaji constituency was a relief for the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal, who contested from the New Delhi assembly constituency, managed to get only 21,561 votes. The constituency was captured by BJP's Parvesh Sahib Singh, who secured 24,743 votes.
Manish Sisodia, who contested from the Jangpura constituency, secured 30,724 votes. BJP's Tarvinder Singh Marwah won here by securing 31,593 votes. Atishi defeated BJP's Ramesh Bidhuri by nearly a thousand votes. In the backdrop of BJP's impressive victory, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet party workers at the party headquarters at 7 pm tonight. The BJP has started talks to form the government in Delhi. BJP national president JP Nadda held talks with Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.
