International drug syndicate worth Rs 2000 crore; Famous Tamil film producer's name surfaces

NEW DELHI: In a shocking revelation, it was found that the kingpin behind a drug syndicate that amassed Rs 2,000 crore in three years, was a popular Tamil film producer. The Narcotics Control Bureau and the Special Cell of the Delhi Police have arrested three people. Deadly drugs worth crores were found in their possession.

New Zealand and Australian Customs earlier informed Indian customs about the large quantity of Pseudoephedrine (the main chemical used in the production of synthetic drug methamphetamine) that is reaching these countries from India, which is commonly disguised in coconut powder to avoid scrutiny.

The police had earlier received information that such goods were being sent from Delhi. Following this, a joint team of the Delhi Police Special Cell and Narcotics Control Bureau started a covert investigation. After a four-month-long investigation. Some culprits were caught while they were preparing another shipment for Australia.

The police found that the mastermind of the drug trade was a Tamil film producer, however, the kingpin is now on the run. The police have started a detailed search for him.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had sent 45 consignments containing about 3,500 kg of pseudoephedrine worth Rs 2,000 crore in the international market in the last three years.
