NEW DELHI: A law has come into force that provides severe punishment as undeserving persons find their way in through irregularities in competitive examinations and entrance examinations.
Offense and punishment are as follows:
Organized crime committed by an individual or a group of individuals in connection with public examinations is punishable by 5-10 years imprisonment and a minimum fine of Rs.1 crore. The property of the involved training institutes will be confiscated. Proportionate cost of examination will also be charged.
This is for question paper, answer key leaking, helping students, tampering with computer network or resources, tampering with examination result, merit list, rank etc., conducting fake examination, issuing fake admit cards, issuing fake offer letters, disclosing confidential information related to the examination and entering examination centres illegally.
3-10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 crore
Penalty up to Rs 1 crore in case of offense by service provider providing support including computer to Public Examination Authority. The cost of the examination will also be charged. They will be banned for four years. 3-10 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 crore if responsible officials commit crime.
