PATNA: In a bizarre case, a man after getting injured in a snake bite, bit back the reptile twice, in the belief that it would reverse the effect of the venom. Surprisingly, the snake died while the man survived.

Rajauli native Santosh Lohar, who repairs tracks for the railways, was bitten by a snake while repairing tracks near a forest area. Santhosh after completing work was on his way to sleep when the snake attacked him. Spotting the reptile, Santhosh quickly grabbed it and returned the taste of its own medicine.

He was immediately rushed to hospital by other workers and friends. After completing the treatment, Santhosh left the hospital on Saturday morning. In the village where Lohar hails from, there is a belief to bite back the snake to reverse the effect of the venom. Despite the lack of scientific approval, the practice is still followed.
