Man hacks wife to death on suspicion of talking to spirits

JAIPUR: A man hacked his wife to death on suspicion of talking to spirits on the phone. The incident happened at Barmer in Rajasthan. The dead is 40-year-old Jio Devi. The police have arrested her husband Chunnilal.

The murder happened this morning. Chunnilal hacked Jio Devi, who was sleeping, with an axe. Though their 17-year-old daughter Sumitra tried to push her father, he kept on hacking her. She also sustained injuries.

When the neighbors came rushing hearing the screams, they found Jio Devi and her daughter lying in a pool of blood. They were rushed to the hospital, but the life of Jio Devi could not be saved. Sumitra was discharged later.

On being informed, the police reached the sport. Chunnilal was arrested by the police on the basis of a complaint filed by Sumitra. Jio Devi's body has been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is going on in the case.
