Man kills mother for making bitter gourd curry for dinner

MUMBAI: A 37-year-old youth killed his mother for making bitter gourd curry for dinner. The heinous incident happened in Dongargaon village of Mul taluka in Maharashtra. The youth identified as Jagdish Petkule killed his 65-year-old mother Sumitra Petkule. The police have arrested Jagdish in the incident.

Jagdish is an alcoholic. Unable to bear his harassment, his wife had left him two months ago and from then on, he had been living with his mother. Jagadish used to fight with his mother after getting drunk. Sumitra served bitter gourd curry with rice for dinner the other day. He got angry and a verbal dispute broke out between the two. Later the argument escalated into a physical fight and he attacked her with repeated kicks and punches. According to the police, Sumitra died immediately after the attack.

After the murder, Jagadish came out of the house and told his neighbors about the murder. They did not take it seriously as he was always under the influence of alcohol.

However, some on suspicion examined the place and then found her body. On being informed, the police arrived and arrested the accused. The police said that his arrest will be recorded soon and an investigation has been launched into the incident. The police said the real cause of death will be clear only after the postmortem report is received.
