BENGALURU: Suresh also thought that his wife Malliga was dead. He performed the rituals. Soon, the police arrested Suresh in the case of killing his wife. After spending a year and a half of being in jail, a twist happened. Malliga, who was thought to have been killed, appeared in court. This happened in Basavanahalli, Karnataka.

Suresh filed a complaint with the police in December 2020, stating that Malliga was missing. A missing person case was charged and an investigation started. Meanwhile, the police recovered a skeleton believed to be that of a woman from a place called Bettadarapura. The police alleged that it was Malliga’s body and that Suresh had acted out a play after killing his wife. The police registered a case in this regard. Amid strong protests, Suresh was arrested. A charge sheet was filed against Suresh as an accused.

The court asked how it was proven that the skeleton belonged to Malliga. During the trial, seven witnesses testified that Malliga was alive. Several hearings were held till the last day. Meanwhile, the twist came. Suresh's friend, who is also a witness in the case, saw Malliga. She was having dinner with someone else at a hotel in Madikeri. Suresh's friend took Malliga by the hand and took her to the Madikeri police station. The information was also reported to the court. Malliga revealed in the court that she had eloped with her lover and was living with him after marrying him. Malliga said that she did not know what happened to Suresh. With this, the court assessed that the police had failed in the case. The court directed the SP to submit the complete details of the case. It also ordered to find out who the skeleton belonged to. Suresh's father demanded that action be taken against the police officers for falsely accusing and torturing his son. He also demanded compensation.
