MP's salary increased to Rs 1.24 lakh, pension to Rs 31,000; effective retrospectively from April 2023

NEW DELHI: The central government has issued a notification increasing the salary, allowance and pension of members of both houses of Parliament. The salary has been increased from the current Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.24 lakh, the daily allowance from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 and the pension amount from Rs 25,000 to Rs 31,000. The increase will be implemented with retrospective effect from April 1, 2023. The arrears of more than Rs 5 lakh will be received in the salary category. The additional amount received after five years as a pension benefit has been increased to Rs 2,500.

The salary and allowances were revised earlier in April 2018. The order issued by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said that the salary is being increased in line with the cost of living.
