MP’s daughter runs BMW over youth sleeping on footpath, gets bail

CHENNAI: The court has granted bail to the woman, daughter of Rajya Sabha MP, who killed a youth after running her BMW over him, who was sleeping on the footpath. The bail was granted to Madhuri, daughter of YSR Congress party Rajya Sabha MP Beeda Mastan Rao.

The incident happened on Monday night. The woman, who was traveling in a car with her friend, ran over 24-year-old Surya, who was sleeping in Basant Nagar, Chennai.
Madhuri fled from the spot after the accident. As people gathered, an argument broke out between Madhuri's friend and the locals. After sometime, her friend also escaped from there. The locals then rushed seriously injured Surya to the hospital but his life could not be saved.

Friends and locals of the youth crowded in front of the police station demanding action against Madhuri. Relatives said Surya got married eight months ago.

The police examined the nearby CCTV visuals. The police found that the car involved in the accident belonged to BMR (Beeda Mastan Rao) group and was registered in Puducherry. Madhuri was arrested but she got bail in the police station itself. Rao, Rajya Sabha MP, had also served as an MLA. He is also a prominent businessman.
