Muslim men, who came to watch Garba dance, thrashed by Bajrang Dal activists in Gujarat

AHMEDABAD: Garba dance as part of Navratri celebrations held here turned ugly as Bajrang Dal activists attacked Muslim youths who came to watch the event. The incident took place at a ground near SP Ring Road. The attackers accused the youths of coming to the function to harass women and commit theft. The police said that no case has been registered in the incident as there weren't any complaints.

Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh government had made identity cards mandatory for those who come to watch Garba dance. The system of identity card verification was introduced on the grounds that Garba dance programs pave way for love jihad. Earlier, the VHP had also demanded that non-Hindus should not be admitted to Garba and Dandiya events which are part of Navratri celebrations.
