NAGPUR: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that generational change should be implemented in every organisation when things are running smoothly. He said the next generation should take up responsibilities, and the older generation should step aside at that time. Gadkari made the remarks while speaking at a press conference related to the Advantage Vidarbha–Khasdar Audyogik Mahotsav, organised by Ashish Kale, president of the Association for Industrial Development (AID), in Nagpur. Following his comments, some sections interpreted the statement as being aimed at the BJP and the RSS. However, no response has been made by the leadership so far. Gadkari has made similar statements in the past as well.

“Ashish’s father is my friend. The Advantage Vidarbha initiative has included the younger generation. I believe that over time, the generation will change. If things are moving forward smoothly, people from the older generation should be forced to retire. Responsibility should be handed over to the new generation. Those who step aside should take up some other work,” Gadkari said.

The third edition of the Advantage Vidarbha initiative will be held from next month 6 to 8. The aim of the initiative is to make Vidarbha a strong and fast-growing hub on India's industrial map. Gadkari is the chief adviser of AID. He also highlighted the importance of the industrial sector, service sector, and agriculture-related sectors for the development of any region. The Advantage Vidarbha Expo will see participation from industries in sectors such as textiles, plastics, minerals, coal, aviation, logistics, IT, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, defence, real estate, renewable energy, and startups.
