NEW DELHI: The NIA confirmed that the terrorists planned to carry out attacks in Delhi using drones and rockets before zeroing in on the dastardly blast near the Red Fort. The big revelation was made in a press release announcing the arrest of another aide of Dr Umar Nabi. Jazeer Bilal Wani alias Danish, a native of Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested in Srinagar. This is the second arrest by the NIA.
Meanwhile, Amir Rashid Ali, a native of Pampore, Jammu and Kashmir, who was arrested on Sunday, has been sent to 10-day NIA custody. When he was produced in the Patiala House Court on Monday, the investigation team sought his custody. Ali is an accomplice in the conspiracy. The NIA told the court that he helped Umar in making the IED and arranged a rented house.
Shoe bomber
Agencies suspect that the explosion was caused by a metal activator attached to the inside of Umar's shoe. The shoe was recovered from under the driver's seat. The presence of triacetone triperoxide (TATP) was found on the shoe and the tyre. Umar used 2 phones and 5 SIM cards.
The agencies have found that the 'white collar module' of Jaish-e-Mohammed plotted the blasts in six cities as 'D6 Mission'. The blasts were planned to be carried out on December 6, the anniversary of the Babri mosque demolition. The recruitment of professionals, including doctors, started in 2010. It is concluded that the doctors, including those arrested in the case of seizure of explosives and weapons in Faridabad, have been working with Jaish since 2015.
