NEW DELHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken one more person into custody in connection with the Red Fort blast case. The arrested person is Ameer Rasheed Ali, an accomplice of Umar Nabi, the main accused behind the blast. The car used in the blast was purchased in Ameer Rasheed Ali's name. According to the NIA, he had come to Delhi specifically to buy the car for carrying out the explosion, and the investigation is now expanding to more people involved in the conspiracy.

The other day, a surgeon named Rayees Ahmad from Pathankot in Punjab was taken into custody by the investigation agencies. There is information that he had called Al-Falah University several times. Authorities are checking whether he had links with Umar or the other arrested doctors. Investigators are also looking into whether the planning for the Delhi blast took place in Punjab as well. Searches were conducted in Nuh, Haryana, including in shops that supplied ammonium nitrate to the accused. The NIA is also preparing to question more doctors from Al-Falah University as part of the ongoing investigation.
