COIMBATORE: The 'Robin' bus, which has faced multiple actions in the past for rule violations, has once again been taken into custody- this time by the Tamil Nadu RTO. Officials said that the action was taken for not paying the road tax. However, bus owner Gireesh is saying that the bus has an All-India Permit.

The Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Department seized the bus from Coimbatore. Gireesh alleged that the authorities are asking him to pay Tamil Nadu road tax. He also said that he will approach the court regarding the issue.

Earlier, another private bus running with an All-India Permit on the Gudalur–Sulthan Bathery route was also seized by the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Department. That bus had remained in custody for weeks. The officials alleged that the service was operating in violation of its route permit. The action was taken during a sting operation, where Transport Corporation officials boarded the bus as regular passengers and later called in Motor Vehicles Department inspectors to check the vehicle. Corporation staff also gave statements with evidence showing that the bus was operating as a parallel service. Based on this, the vehicle was taken into custody.
