NEW DELHI: As U.S. President Donald Trump proceeds with tariff hikes, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit China on the 31st of this month to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Reports say he is likely to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the visit.
The two-day summit will be held in Tianjin City on August 31 and September 1. Key issues such as regional security, terrorism, and trade are expected to be discussed. This will be Modi’s first visit to China since the Galwan clash in 2020. His last visit to China was in 2019. Before heading to China, Modi will visit Japan on August 30.
