CHHATTISGARH: Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat won in Julana constituency in Haryana assembly elections by 6015 votes. Vinesh, who was ahead in the beginning, later fell behind BJP's Yogesh Kumar. However, Vinesh took the lead in the final rounds and finally achieved victory. BJP candidate Yogesh Kumar is in the second position. Aam Aadmi's Kavita Rani is at the fifth position.

Wrestling star Vinesh Phogat reached the finals of the Paris Olympics. Vinesh, who was disqualified in the finals after being overweight by 100 grams, later retired from wrestling and joined the Congress. After the announcement of Vinesh's candidature, Julana was the constituency that the country was looking forward to. The BJP suffered a setback in the constituency due to farmers' anger and the wrestling incident.

The biggest challenge faced by Vinesh when she came as a candidate in Jhulana was that the Congress had not been able to win in the constituency since 2004. In the last election, the Congress candidate got only 9.84% of the votes, but this time the party was able to make a huge advance through Vinesh. Jhulana has been a stronghold of INLD and then JJP for the past few elections. Vinesh was able to change that.
