MUMBAI: Mumbai’s famous Siddhivinayak Temple has introduced a dress code for devotees. The temple authorities issued this directive recently, specifying the attire that devotees must wear when visiting the temple starting next week. Clothing that falls above the knees is prohibited. The temple trust has stated that devotees must wear attire that fully covers the body. Those wearing inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to enter the temple.
The trust explained that the dress code was introduced because inappropriate clothing worn by some devotees causes discomfort to others. Not only short skirts but also torn or distressed clothing is banned inside the temple.
"Thousands of devotees from across the country visit the Siddhivinayak Temple every day. However, some devotees show disrespect to the temple by wearing such attire. After receiving repeated requests from other devotees, we have decided to implement this rule to preserve the sanctity of the temple. All devotees must wear clothing appropriate for the temple premises," the trust stated.
