NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has come out in support of Aam Aadmi Party's Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, who complained that she was assaulted at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. The Lt Governor said that Kejriwal's silence speaks volumes about his stance on women's safety.

"The issue of assault on Maliwal has deeply distressed me. Delhi Police will investigate and come to a logical conclusion. The U-turn by Aam Aadmi Party on the incident is baffling. Maliwal called me. She spoke about the violence and the acts of her own party members. If this incident had happened at the residence of any other Chief Minister, there would have been a heated international debate on women's safety in India," the Lieutenant Governor clarified. It is noteworthy that the Lieutenant Governor's statement happened when the elections are about to take place in Delhi on Saturday.

The case is that Bibhav Kumar insulted and assaulted Maliwal who came to Kejriwal's residence on the morning of the 13th without any provocation.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Police formed a special investigation team and recorded the statement of the employees of the Chief Minister's office. Information was collected from security officials who were on duty at the time of the incident. Bibhav Kumar, who is in police custody, was brought to Mumbai. Efforts are being made to recover the mobile phone footage related to the violence. It is learned that Bibhav deleted the data on his phone after transferring the footage to someone else in Mumbai.

Conspiracy revealed

The Aam Aadmi Party responded that with the Lieutenant Governor's statement, it has become clear that Maliwal was working for the BJP. BJP is conspiring during the elections. It is also alleged that new strategies are being used.
