
NOIDA: An IT employee died tragically after his car lost control in the dense fog and fell into a deep ditch. The accident occurred on Friday night near Noida Sector 150.The dead is Yuvraj Mehta (27) and he lost his life while returning home from work.
Yuvraj, who was trapped inside the car after the accident, called his father Rajkumar Mehta on the phone and cried for help. ‘Dad, I have fallen into a deep pit filled with water. I am drowning, please come and save me. I don't want to die.' Hearing his son's cries, the father immediately reached the spot, but within seconds the car was completely submerged.
Heavy fog and the absence of reflectors on the road led to the accident. The car hit a high wall separating two drainage basins near the road and fell into a 70-feet-deep ditch filled with water. Locals who heard the noise tried to save him but failed as the car was submerged. Police, fire force and diving experts reached the spot and after a five-hour effort, the car and Yuvraj's body were recovered.
Yuvraj's family filed a complaint, stating that the accident was caused by the lack of safety signs or reflectors on the service roads. Following the accident, locals protested against the authorities. Despite repeated requests, the locals alleged that the authorities were not ready to cover the potholes on the road or install safety boards. The police said that they would investigate the incident and take action. Immediately after the accident, the authorities covered the potholes with tons of garbage and debris.
