TMC MP Mahua Moitra gets married to BJD leader Pinaki Mishra

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra has tied the knot with Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former MP Pinaki Mishra. The couple got married in a simple and private ceremony held on May 3 in Berlin, Germany. Initially, photos of their wedding surfaced on social media, but both Mahua and Pinaki did not comment on them. Later, Mahua shared a photo and thanked everyone for their wishes.

Mahua is widely known for her fiery speeches in Parliament. During her first term as MP, she was disqualified following allegations that she accepted money in exchange for asking parliamentary questions. Born on October 12, 1974, in Assam, Moitra was an investment banker before entering politics. She joined Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress in 2010 and was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Krishnanagar constituency in West Bengal in both 2019 and 2024.

She also serves as the party’s Nadia district president. However, reports suggested she was not actively involved in the campaign for the by-election in the Kaliganj Assembly constituency, which falls under the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency.

Mahua was previously married to Lars Brorson, a Danish citizen, but the couple later got divorced. She was also reportedly in a relationship with lawyer Jai Anand Dehadrai for a time, but they later separated.

Pinaki Mishra, born on October 23, 1959, in Puri, Odisha, is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court. He began his political career with the Congress party and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Puri in 1996. Later, he joined the Biju Janata Dal and served as an MP under its banner as well. Mishra has a son and a daughter from a previous marriage.
