Trainer Aircraft makes emergency landing in mid of road in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: A small trainer aircraft made an emergency landing in the middle of the road following a technical glitch. The incident happened on the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai national highway near Ammachathiram in Pudukkottai of Tamil Nadu. The front of the plane Cessna 172 was partially damaged as a result of the crash. It is not clear where the pilots are from.


Authorities said the plane belongs to a private training institute operating in Salem. Authorities also clarify that a technical fault was noticed during the training flight and it was immediately landed on the highway.


The emergency landing was at 12.45 pm. There were many vehicles and people on the road at this time. Seeing the plane near the Ammachathiram bus stop, people panicked, not knowing what had happened. It was only after a while they all realized what had happened. There was a huge crowd around the plane. The police had to work hard to evacuate the people from the area.


On receiving information about the accident, the police from Keeranur sub-division in Pudukkottai reached the spot and facilitated traffic. Air force personnel have also reached the spot. An investigation has been launched into the accident. The authorities said the only reason for the accident is a technical fault.
