NEW DELHI: Lashing out at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is only interested in playing politics 24/7. He stated that Mamata does not prioritise the development or progress of West Bengal, and that the central government policies implemented in the state are not being fulfilled. Modi’s criticism came in response to Mamata’s decision to skip the NITI Aayog meeting held in Delhi.

Modi further added that the Trinamool government has halted central schemes in the state — which were supposed to be completed last year — claiming that such actions are against the people. The Prime Minister also accused the state government of acting with hostility towards the poor, tribal communities, Dalits, women, and other backward sections of society.
