Truck rams into Ganesh idol immersion procession; eight killed, 20 injured

BENGALURU: In a tragic incident, eight people were killed and 20 others were injured after a truck rammed into a Ganesh idol immersion procession in Hassan district in Karnataka. Five people died on the spot, while three others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The accident occurred on National Highway 373. Reports suggest that the death toll may rise.

The shocking visuals of the incident have come out. The accident occurred after the truck driver reportedly lost control while trying to avoid hitting a motorbike that came from the opposite direction. A DJ was taking place in the region as part of the Ganesh idol immersion procession when the truck ploughed into the crowd.
