Union Minister Kumaraswamy admitted to hospital after suffering nosebleed during press conference

BENGALURU: Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy was rushed to the hospital after he started bleeding from the nose while addressing a press conference in Bengaluru. The incident took place while Kumaraswamy was addressing the media after a coordination committee meeting of the BJP and the JD-S leaders here on Sunday.

The Union Minister was taken to Apollo Hospital in the Jayanagar locality here. His son, actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and other senior leaders of the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) rushed him to the hospital.

Kumaraswamy is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Senior BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa later informed the media that the press conference was postponed due to special circumstances. BJP and JD(S) had jointly announced a padayatra as part of intensifying the protest against the Siddaramaiah government over the Mysuru Urban Development Authority corruption allegations. The press conference was called to make an official announcement in this regard.

It is suspected that the blood thinner drug or medication would have resulted in the bleeding. However, an official statement is yet to be released. Kumaraswamy had undergone heart surgery earlier.
