NEW DELHI: With all eyes on the 2026 assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi vowed to end what he called 'Maha Jungle Raj' in West Bengal. PM Modi said the 15-year-old 'Maha Jungle Raj', which gave a free pass to infiltrators and mafias, will come to an end in 2026. The Prime Minister was speaking at a function in Singur where development projects worth over Rs 830 crore were announced. PM Modi thus kicked off the election campaign in West Bengal.
"BJP stopped the return of jungle raj in Bihar. Bengal is getting ready to bid farewell to the Maha-Jungle Raj of the Trinamool Congress.
The Trinamool government, which provides all facilities to infiltrators, is playing with the security of Bengal and the country. The youth here should be extremely cautious. The Trinamool government is not cooperating despite the Centre's request for 11 years to build a fence on the Bengal border. The Trinamool government is protecting groups that forge documents for infiltrators. Rioters and mafias have been let loose.
The BJP will further strengthen its presence in each district of Bengal. Industries will be established, and investments will come only when law and order improve. The Trinamool government is preventing the benefits of central schemes from reaching the people. The state government has blocked the digital platform launched by the Centre to register fishermen across the country."
The Prime Minister also flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains connecting Kolkata with New Delhi, Varanasi and Chennai, and inaugurated a state-of-the-art electric catamaran built at the Cochin Shipyard for the Balagad Inland Water Transport Terminal.
West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose, Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, Shantanu Thakur, Sukanta Majumdar and others attended the function
