NEW DELHI: A youth killed his wife and mother-in-law following a dispute over birthday gifts exchanged between the two sides of the family on his son’s birthday. The incident happened in Delhi's Rohini yesterday. The youth identified as Yogesh Sehgal was arrested in the incident.
Sehgal killed his mother-in-law Kusum Sinha (63) and her daughter Priya Sehgal (34). Priya's brother Megh Sinha informed the police. Kusum had come to Priya's house on August 28 to celebrate the birthday of her grandson Chirag. While the celebrations were going on, Yogesh and Priya had an argument over the gifts. Kusum stayed at Priya's house to resolve the dispute.
Police said that Megh tried to call his mother yesterday but could not be reached on the phone. When he later reached Priya's house, he found the door locked from inside. There were blood stains on the door. Megh then informed his relatives and broke the door and entered. Megh informed the police after finding the bodies of his mother and sister in a pool of blood in their room. Megh alleged that Yogesh left the place with his children after killing the two. Relatives said Yogesh is presently unemployed.
Yogesh was arrested during investigation. Yogesh's blood-stained clothes and the scissors used for the murder were recovered from the spot. The police said the investigation into the incident is progressing.
