JAIPUR: After a verbal dispute with their children, a 70-year-old man and his 68-year-old wife committed suicide by jumping into the water tank of their house. Hazariram Bishnoi and his wife Chawali Devi lived in Rajasthan’s Nagaur. The bodies of the couple were recovered from the water tank the other day. The couple left a suicide note and it was pasted on the wall listing the atrocities committed by their own children for property. The police found the suicide note stuck on the wall of the house.
The note said their four children brutally harassed them for property. It is clear in the note that the children had threatened to kill them and they were not given enough food to eat. The children also asked their mother to take a bowl and beg for food.
The couple has two sons and two daughters. Their son Rajendra thrashed them thrice while the other son Sunil beat them twice. The note also said that the children threatened to kill their parents in their sleep if they disclosed the incident to anyone. The letter has mentioned the names of four children, in-laws, one grandson and a few relatives.
The sons threatened and fraudulently took ownership of their three plots and a car. Food was not given regularly. They used to call their parents every day and threaten them. The note also said that they threatened to kill them if revealed the incident to anyone.
Nagaur Superintendent of Police Narayan Togas said that they received information on Thursday of no movement in the house. The police searched around the house. Finally, the bodies were recovered from the water tank. Forensic experts have also collected evidence. The house keys were recovered from their father’s pocket. The police said that they have collected footage from the CCTV installed inside the house and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem.
Meantime, Sunil had filed a complaint with the police last Monday alleging that his parents had threatened to implicate them in a suicide case. A detailed investigation is underway into the incident.
