NEW DELHI: The girls, who were accompanying the two Malayali nuns arrested for forced conversion and human trafficking in Chhattisgarh’s Durg, has now reacted to the incident. They said that they are born Christians and that their families knew that they were going with the nuns. They rejected the allegations levelled by Bajrang Dal and the police. The visuals of the girls talking to a local media on the day the nuns were arrested, have emerged.
Meantime, serious charges have been imposed against the nuns in the FIR. The FIR alleged forced conversion and human trafficking. Sister Preethy is the first accused and Sister Vandana, the second accused. The FIR clarifies that forced conversion and human trafficking were the nuns’ intention.
The nuns working in Fatima Hospital in Agra were arrested when they came to pick up the three girls entrusted as domestic helps, at Durg railway station. One of the girls’ brother was in the station. Bajrang Dal activists stopped the nuns alleging forced conversion and human trafficking and then informed the police. The activists alleged that one of the girls came without her consent. The nuns remanded and in judicial custody are in the jail in Durg.
