Operation Sindoor: 'Congress echoing narratives coming from across the border'; Modi lashes out

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lashed out at the Congress party during the Lok Sabha debate on Operation Sindoor. He alleged that the Congress attempted to take political advantage of the Pahalgam massacre and asserted that the party holds no place in the hearts of the people. Modi said it was unfortunate that Congress was unwilling to commend India’s brave soldiers and accused the party of echoing narratives coming from across the border.

“The session in the Lok Sabha is a celebration of India’s success. Those who do not stand with India will be taught a lesson. What happened in Pahalgam was the peak of terrorism. The people of India thwarted a planned attempt to incite unrest in the country. India responded to the April 22 attack within 22 minutes. As soon as I returned from abroad, I instructed the retaliatory strike and gave full freedom to the armed forces,” the Prime Minister said.

“India’s response was one that disturbed the terrorists’ sleep. It exposed Pakistan’s hollow nuclear threat. Pakistan was powerless in the face of India’s strike,” Modi added. He stated that the Indian forces specifically targeted terrorist bases, which they had already warned would be destroyed. “It was Pakistan that pleaded for a ceasefire,” the Prime Minister revealed, adding that Operation Sindoor is not yet over.

Earlier, opposition leader Rahul Gandhi had said the Pahalgam incident was a brutal attack. He also alleged that U.S. President Donald Trump had taken credit for brokering the ceasefire and criticised Prime Minister Modi for not responding to that claim.
