KOCHI: The suicide note of a 23-year-old TTC student in Kothamangalam has surfaced. The note said that her male friend Ramees locked her up in a room, beat her and then forced her to convert. Ramees is a temporary employee of Nedumbassery Airport. TTC student identified as Sona Eldhos was found hanging at her home last Saturday.

Both families knew the relationship of the two. The note mentioned that after taking her to his house in Paravur, she was beaten and that he and his father forced her to convert if wanted to get married. The police had registered a case of unnatural death. In the complaint filed by Sona's family, sections of abetment to suicide and grievous bodily harm have been imposed against Ramees.

Her suicide note said
'I can't live being cheated like this. I forgave Ramees for getting caught in immoral traffic. However, he proved again and again that he doesn't love me. I went with him after leaving my family. He then forced me to convert religion. He took me home on the pretext of a registered marriage and then made his family say that marriage will be conducted only if she converts. Even though his parents knew about his mistakes, they didn't take any action. Even after agreeing to conversion, Ramees, his friends and family continued cruelty towards me. He strictly told me that it wasn't enough to change my religion and that she should stay in his house. I, who was devastated after my father’s demise, took the drastic step due to the pressure from his family.
