65-year-old woman sexually assaulted while returning from temple; accused arrested

KOLLAM: Police have nabbed a man who sexually assaulted an elderly woman while she was returning home after visiting a temple. The arrested man is Meeyannur native Anooj. The incident took place on Friday morning.

The 65-year-old woman was returning home after visiting a temple when the accused followed her and attacked her. He then dragged her into a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about it. It was some locals who later took the woman to the hospital. Upon receiving information, the police launched a probe and arrested the accused from a bush about two and a half kilometres away. The police said that the woman has identified the accused.
