Assault on KP Mohanan MLA; twenty people booked

KANNUR: Police have registered a case in the assault of Kuthuparamba MLA KP Mohanan. The Chokli police have suo motu registered a case against about twenty people. The locals were angered by the failure to find a solution to the waste problem related to the Thanal Dialysis Centre in Kariyad, Peringathur. The MLA was attacked by women also.

The MLA had come to inaugurate an Anganwadi. The dialysis centre has been operating in the area for years. People are facing a lot of trouble due to the waste being discharged from here. The locals allege that the MLA did not properly consider the problems of the people.

The MLA tried to leave for the inauguration site when the locals were trying to talk about the garbage problem. The angry protesters then pushed the MLA, and a scuffle broke out. The video of this is being circulated on social media.
