Attempt to kill housewife over previous feud, accused arrested

THIRUVALLA: Police have arrested a neighbor accused of stabbing a housewife over previous feud. Puthanveetil Saji(54) is the accused. Vadakethil Ammini Varghese(65), wife of Thambi is the victim. The incident happened at 11 am yesterday. Only Ammini and her blind husband Thambi were at home. Saji barged into the kitchen and stabbed Ammini, who was cooking, with a knife. She was in a pool of blood when her husband and neighbors arrived on hearing the screams.

She was admitted to Tiruvalla Taluk Hospital and later to Kottayam Medical College due to severe abdominal injuries. Ammini, who underwent emergency surgery, is in critical condition. Saji, who escaped was caught within the premises of the house. Forensic team reached the spot and collected the evidence. The accused was produced in court and remanded. Saji has served life sentence for killing his father.
