Binu used unlicensed gun; More information surface on death of youths in Palakkad

PALAKKAD: More information surface in connection with the death of the two youths at Kalladikode in the district. Binu (42), son of late Thanka and his neighbour Kalapurakkal Shaila’s son Nidhin (26) were found shot dead last evening. The police had the other day confirmed that after shooting Nidhin to death, Binu shot himself dead. The two were residents of Maruthumkode near Kalladikode. Binu used an unlicensed gun.

There were 17 bullets in the pouch found on Binu’s waist. Binu had caught many wild boars with the country made gun. The police said Binu reached Nidhin's house with the intention of killing him. The youths were very close earlier. The reason for the dispute was that Binu had spoken badly about Nidhin's mother.

Local residents have stated that they heard two gunshots in the area yesterday afternoon. The postmortem of the youths will be held in the district hospital today. The body of Binu was found lying in a pool of blood with bullet injuries. There was a country-made gun nearby. The police reached the spot on being informed by the locals. During inspection, Nidhin's body was found lying in the sit out of the house holding a knife on his left hand.

Nidhin, his mother and brother built a house at Maruthumkode in three cents of land 12 years ago. After his father died, his mother worked as a laborer and that was the only income of the family. Nidhin goes out of the house only to buy cigarettes. He went to buy cigars yesterday also. Binu is a tapping worker and lives 200 meters away from Nidhin's house. Binu’s mother died one and a half years ago and now he lives alone.
