The accused will be produced in the court this afternoon.
Ragging started from the beginning of the academic year. The accused brutally harassed six students of Thiruvananthapuram. They injured their bodies using compass and then poured lotion on it. They stripped them naked and hung dumbbells on their private parts.
The incident happened in the boys' hostel. First-year students subjected to ragging were forcibly given alcohol and the visuals of it were captured. They threatened them with dire consequences if revealed the incident to anybody.
A complaint said senior students collected money from juniors to buy alcohol. The accused had demanded money from one of the students on Monday. He was brutally harassed when refused to give money. The student informed his parents about this. They asked him to file a complaint with the police. The students then approached the Gandhinagar police with a complaint. The five students were suspended from the college after the incident sparked a controversy.
