Case against CPM leader for death threat against rebel candidate

PALAKKAD: A case has been registered against a CPM leader for making a death threat against a rebel candidate. The case was registered against Agali local secretary N Jamshir. He made a death threat against V R Ramakrishnan, who is contesting as an independent in ward 18 of the Agali panchayat.

Jamshir threated Ramakrishnan on the night of November 22. He called Ramakrishnan on phone and threatened to finish him off if not withdrawn from the fray. He also hurled abuses at him. The audio of it has emerged.

Ramakrishnan filed a complaint with the Agali police the next day. However, the police directed him to approach the court. Ramakrishnan then filed a complaint with district police chief Ajith Kumar. The police have recorded the statement of Ramakrishnan. Jamshir was removed from the party's election duties the other day.
