THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against DYFI activists for hurling abuses at many including a sub inspector in Nagaroor. A case has been registered against nine CPM-DYFI activists for hurling abuses at the cops after stopping their police jeep. The case has been registered under the non-bailable section. Two of them have been arrested.

The FIR has been registered against Vishnu, Faisal, Ratheesh and six other known persons. Vishnu and Ratheesh were arrested in an investigation conducted by the squad led by Attingal DySP and Attingal CI. They are presently in the Attingal DySP’s office.

The reason for the protests was that the police had issued a notice to the DYFI workers involved in the incident of destroying Congress’ flex board the other day. Enraged by this, the DYFI workers blocked the police vehicle, tried to attack the officers including the Nagaroor SI and hurled abuses at them. The video footage that has emerged shows the DYFI workers behaving in a fit of rage and senior workers trying to hold them back.

CPM and DYFI protests were held across the state after Health Minister Veena George was attacked in the state. As part of this, Congress offices were attacked and flex boards were destroyed. Such attacks had also taken place in Nagaroor. The Youth Congress filed a complaint with the police after Congress’ flex boards were destroyed. The police registered a case against DYFI workers in this case. They attacked the police when they came to issue the notice.
