ALAPPUZHA: The court awarded death sentence to the second accused in the case of murdering a pregnant woman at Kainakary in Alappuzha. The dead is Anitha Sasidharan (32) of Punnapra in Alappuzha, a married woman and mother of two children. The second accused in the case is Rajani (38) of Kainakary. The sentence was awarded by Alappuzha district sessions court three.

Rajani is presently remanded and in Odisha Raigarh jail following her arrest in a narcotics case. Anitha was murdered on July 9 in 2021 at 9.30 pm. Her lover Prabeesh (37) of Nilambur, the first accused in the case, was earlier awarded death sentence.

Prabeesh and Rajani were living as a couple in Kainakary. In the meanwhile, Prabeesh met Anitha in Palakkad and the two fell in love. When Anitha became pregnant, she forced him to marry her, but he was not willing for that. When all efforts failed in aborting her, Prabeesh and Rajini decided to kill her.

Anitha, who was working at a farm in Alathur, Palakkad, was called to Rajini's house in Kainakary. Prabeesh with the help of Rajani strangled her and later dumped the body in the river.
