Customs seize 543 grams gold from passenger at Nedumbassery airport, gold found in packet stitched inside underwear

KOCHI: Officials have seized 543 grams of gold worth Rs 27 lakh from a passenger at Nedumbassery airport on Friday. He tried to smuggle the gold by hiding it inside his underwear and was caught during an examination.

The arrested has been identified as Ashokan, a native of Ernakulam. As per reports the gold was smuggled from Dubai. While examining the said passenger, a packet suspected to contain gold in compound form was found stitched inside his underwear. The Customs officials did a detailed examination following his suspicious behaviour.
