Gold of Rs 60 lakh stolen from locker of cooperative bank, case against CPM branch secretary

KANNUR: A case has been registered against an employee for stealing gold worth Rs 60 lakhs from the bank locker and replacing it with artificial gold. The incident happened at the Anapanthy Cooperative Bank in Kannur. The police have registered a case against Sudheer Thomas, a temporary cashier at the bank. Sudheer is CPM Kacherikadavu branch secretary.


Gold worth Rs 60 lakhs was kept in 18 packets in the locker. Sudheer Thomas, who took this gold, replaced it with artificial gold. It is reported that Sudheer also stole the gold that was pawned in the name of his wife. The Anapanthy Cooperative Bank, which was previously ruled by the Congress, was wrested by the CPM only two years ago.
