Hotel owner held for rape attempt on employee in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: Devadas, the hotel owner, has been arrested for trying to sexually abuse his employee at Mambatta in Mukkam. He was arrested Wednesday morning from Kunnamkulam in Thrissur. He was then brought to Mukkam police station. He tried to sexually abuse the girl, who was working in his hotel Sanketham. The girl, who jumped from the building and seriously injured is in a critical condition and is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Devadas is the first accused in the incident. Other employees of the hotel and co-accused identified as Riyas and Suresh will be nabbed soon. On Saturday night, they tried to abuse the girl after barging into the place where the employees of the hotel stay. The girl, who got scared jumped from top of the building to evade the rape attempt. The girl suffered serious spinal and other injuries and is undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College.

The visuals of Devdas trying to rape her and she resisting the attack had surfaced. She was playing a game on her mobile phone and mistakenly turned on the camera. This recorded the attack providing vital evidence.
