KOZHIKODE: More details have emerged regarding the immoral activities carried out in a rented flat at Malaparamba. A preliminary investigation has been initiated against two police officers based on the information obtained from the mobile phones of the arrested individuals. The Nadakkavu police had arrested Wayanad native Bindu, Idukki native Abhirami and Karuvanthuruthi native Upesh the other day.
It has come to light that certain police officers in the city had earlier communicated over the phone with the woman who operated the brothel. Police are currently examining mobile phone call detail records (CDRs) to gather further evidence. As a result of the allegations, the two police officers have reportedly been transferred from their current posts.
Bindu had previously received a notice from the Medical College police in 2022 regarding another complaint. It is alleged that the accused police officers contacted her via phone during that time. The group shifted to Malaparamba two years later. During questioning, the suspects reportedly indicated that they had received external support to operate the brothel. The preliminary investigation into this matter raised suspicions that police officers were involved.
The police have stated that further action can only be taken once complete details from the suspects’ phones and SIM data are obtained. Authorities have also indicated that they are investigating how the flat was rented and whether rent was paid during the period when the brothel was not in operation.
