THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A probe in the murder of an elderly woman in Kesavadasapuram is progressing. The dead has been identified as Manorama (68), wife of Dinaraj of Kesavadasapuram Rakshapuri Road, Meenamkunnil House. The investigation team has intensified search for Adam Ali, a native of Bengal, suspected to be the accused.

Manorama was found missing since yesterday afternoon. In a search conducted later, the body was found in the well of an unoccupied house. The legs were found tied with bricks.

Adam Ali, a Bengali came for work in a construction site net to Manorama’s house six months ago. The investigating team suspect that he may have strangulated her before robbery. Though the neighbours arrived hearing her cries, the door was not opened. It is hinted that the accused may have dumped the body in the well after they left.

The police had last night taken into custody four natives of Bengal staying with Adam Ali. He was using the phone of his friend. Before fleeing, he had asked his friend to bring him his SIM. He called from Ulloor. He told his friends that he had thrashed Manorama.

His friends told police that though they went to Ulloor with the SIM card, did not find Ali. The investigating team suspect the hands of more people behind the murder. Meantime, the body of Manorama will be handed over to her relatives after the post mortem.
