Ramees' friend arrested in suicide case of woman in Kothamangalam

KOCHI: Sahad, friend of Ramees held in connection with the suicide of a 23-year-old TTC student in Kothamangalam, has been taken into custody. Police said his arrest will be recorded soon. The charge against Sahad is that he supported his friend in the crime. Ramees' parents were taken into custody this morning. The parents were booked under charges of abetment to suicide.


The girl's suicide note emerged saying that she was locked in Ramees' house, harassed and forced conversion. Police said the neglect from Ramees’ side led the girl to take the drastic step. The girl faced neglect for not converting. The police also said that Ramees encouraged her to go and die.


Ramees has been charged with abetment to suicide, inflicting bodily harm, and rape on the pretext of marriage. The police had found that Ramees' parents are also involved in the case. With this, his parents went into hiding. The victim’s brother had revealed that she was physically and mentally abused by Ramees. He also alleged that the aim of Ramees and his family was conversion.

Ramees and the girl from Karukadom in Kothamangalam were in a relationship. She wanted to marry him and settle. However, the investigation conducted revealed that there were some fights between them. The Google accounts of Ramees and the woman were linked. The girl was able to find the Google route map of Ramees’ search for 'Edappally sex workers' on Google, looking for information, and going to Edappally. Police said a dispute broke out between the two after this.
